Recently I obtained a 2 sided German press release sheet for the 1976 LP "Moonmadness".
In the text was a time line from 1968 to 1976.
Especially the year 1971 was new to me. The text is the following:
[ANDY LATIMER, DOUG FERGUSON, ANDY WARD work together with PHILIP GOODHAND TAIT and record with him the LP "I think I'll write a song". With GOODHAND TAIT they come for the first time to Germany, as support of the ELTON JOHN-tour.]
This little text makes me wonder and I have several questions.
According to GOODHAND TAIT 1970 diary on his website the audition with Andy Ward (drums), Doug Ferguson (bass) and Andy Latimer (guitar) for back-up band were on 20.02.1971. In 1971 GOODHAND TAIT played several gigs. Did Latimer, Ferguson and Ward played on all the 1971 gigs as the back-up band? Were one or some of the gigs recorded? Are recorded gigs available (perhaps as a roio)?
According to Elton Johns tour history he didn't play gigs in Germany in 1971. So the gigs must be 1972 as published on GOODHAND TAITS website. Did Latimer, Ferguson and Ward play on all the gigs of the ELTON JOHN European tour? Did anybody knews of recorded gigs from that tour?
Perhaps anybody out there can help to find answer to my questions!
