Recorded by the BBC for 'Sight And Sound In Concert'.
Often misdated as being recorded on 1 October 1977, which is clarified in the post below. Note that these tracks are all in mono!

22nd Sept 1977 is the correct date for the BBC Sight & Sound filming. 1st October was the broadcast date and Pete Drummond sneakily refers in his BBC announcements to the fact that Camel are playing at the Hammersmith Odeon "tonight" (meaning 1st Oct) whereas he was actually giving the announcement on location at the recording date 22nd Sept. This led to a lot of mislabelling of the gig date. I've checked the date quoted by CP with the BBC and it is correct.

Another interesting thing.
I found out that there are 2 "Hippodromes" in London:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippodrome,_London
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golders_Green_Hippodrome

I listed the venue for the 22 September 1977 concert as 'Hippodrome Theatre, London, UK', but realize it should be 'Golders Green Hippodrome' - see the 2nd wikipedia article that says that the 'Sight And Sound In Concert' shows were recorded there.

To revisit this having investigated a little further:

The Hippodrome in Golders Green belonged to the BBC and is often referred to in BBC material as "BBC Hippodrome Theatre". It is clear that when a BBC announcer mentions "the Hippodrome Theatre" he is referring to the "Golders Green Hippodrome" as distinct from the "London Hippodrome". On the BBC transcription disc for the 1975 concert Bob Harris says "BBC Hippodrome Theatre" which must certainly mean the venue in Golders Green.

ALL "Sight & Sound" official releases are mono: the soundtracks to Moondances and Footage I/II plus the bonus tracks on the Rain Dances reissue. DVDs are not such a surprise because vintage footage always has lower grade audio unless resynced afterwards with a separate proffesional audio recording. But the Universal/Decca bonus audio being mono is unforgivable. Clearly it was sourced from the BBC footage rather than the BBC reels recording which makes me wonder whether they nicked it from CP's Moondances.

As for the 1977 soundtrack, the bootleg "Unevensongs" is a transfer of a BBC transcription LP and is also fantastic stereo.

The footage on F1dvd and F2dvd is from an inferior source to MDdvd.
