As stated in the liner notes, the source of OTR82 was a soundboard cassette, digitized and restored by Camel Productions.
In fact a professional multitrack recording was made, but could not be located and hence CP resorted to the soundboard tape. The difference in sound from radio sourced recordings is easy to spot, the soundboard sounding somewhat flat, lacking in reverb created by the acoustics of the venue and largely devoid of the atmosphere of an audience. Having said that, sound quality is nevertheless excellent for a recording which was only ever intended for internal reference purposes.
The multitrack recording was made by TROS radio and broadcast on Hilversum 3 by famous Dutch broadcaster Wim Van Putten on his fondly remembered "LP show" program. The original broadcast on 22 July 1982 was improved by a remix broadcast on 5 May 1983, and a few additional remixed songs were broadcast the following week, 12th May 1983. Taken together the broadcast songs are missing some material compared with the soundboard tape (Neon Magic, Who We Are) but they do include the encore Rhayader/Rhayader Goes To Town missing from the CP release.
