Who thinks that The Final Cut is a brilliant album? It is my favorite Floyd album for sure, but there seems to be so much hate surrounding it. I think the hate between the band members and others at the time of recording brings the record together well and makes it one of the most emotionally profound recordings they released!

I'm also in the minor camp that really, really likes this album. It's not that I think it's the best, however. But it's much better than Momentary Lapse. :)
It certainly is meant for those with selective taste, but I just love the emotionality on this album. Roger Waters is crap at singing, but his emotion, his intensity really makes up for it and has left a lasting impression on me.

'The Final Cut' is a brilliant album. I think a lot of peoples dislike for it is for political reasons, though they wouldn't admit to it. It's anti-Margaret Thatcher and the Falklands War and was a number 1 album in the UK, but the British still re-elected a right wing Thatcher Conservative government shortly after it was released.
Ah, I hadn't considered the political climate of the time. Although, since then Roger has certainly become only more and more political with his music as evidenced by the projections made for his "The Wall Live" tour!

A great, powerful, moving album. I remember getting it on release and being staggered by it.
By this time in my life I had listened to bands such as Joy Division and begun to realise that music did not have to be merely entertaining, but could contain a deeper meaning that made you sit up and listen. This album furthered that viewpoint.
