Maybe I'm doing now all Genesis fans doubly wrong. But in my opinion, was the creative, artistic influences really end at Genesis when Peter Gabriel was eliminated. After that, it never came to these intellectuals performance of Gabriel. I have for "From Genesis to revelation" voted, although this decision has been made to me very difficult. The special thing about this album is the large proportion of classic instrument, who came there to use (violins, cellos, horns, etc.) Although it is (the album) does not compare with his artistically mature followers of the Peter Gabriel era, but "from Genesis to revelation "was the successful launch. Personally, I associate this album with many wonderful memories.
My first contact with Genesis was the opening of Foxtrot. Since the first chord of "Watcher of the Skies" I was under the spell of the band. Up to now Foxtrot still is my favorite Genesis-album, followed by the other albums of the Gabriel-era.
For me it is Selling England mainly for the instrumentation and musicianship, because Hackett really shines on this record, but Foxtrot was my first Genesis album, so it is in a close second place. I loved that album to pieces when I first got it. Even my young little brother enjoys it (he knows all the lyrics to "Supper's Ready"). However, I have an appreciation for all of these albums, as they represent the band at separate points.

The Lamb Lies Down for me. I bought this on the day of release, which kinda tells you how long I've been a fan for! I love all the Gabriel era stuff, but even after he left, the band produced some wonderful albums, it's just that the longer they went on, so they changed style, and lost a lot of the early fans. Funnily enough, I was listening to a boot of the Lamb show in the car today :-) ( Of which I probably have too many, so the wife says!)
A week or two ago I gave the Lamb a re-listen after having not listened to the thing as a whole for over a year. Wow, I never realized how beautiful it is. I honestly think it has become my new favorite Genesis album for sure. All sorts of hidden gems throughout, and who can resist something as funny as Counting out Time?
